Health of the Bichons

The Coton de Tulear is a small companion dog that is usually intelligent, loyal and friendly. He has a profuse white coat that apparently does not shed, but could be a problem for him if it’s not kept clean and well groomed. His fur should not be allowed to fall over his eyes to obstruct his vision.

• Cerebellar ataxia (abnormalities of the hind brain, causing weakness and tremors
• Retinopathy (disease of the retina which causes impairment or loss of vision)
